Fall is great. Cool weather, changing leaves, football. What excites me most about fall is the festive cocktails. Pumpkin, Apple, Cinnamon, the possibilities for seasonal cocktails are endless get me as giddy as a little girl on Christmas morning. I have spent many hours scouring the internet, shopping for ingredients and taste testing to present to you….Freakin’ Fabulous Festive Fall Cocktails!!( I may or may not be a little buzzed as I type this). Since the majority of my evening hours are spent lecturing my daughter about the fact that Chocolate is not a major food group, negotiating what time bedtime will be and attempting to maintain my sanity; I do not have time to mess around with difficult drink recipes that have me wandering the grocery store in search of some rare ingredient. So, these cocktails are not only festive, but quick and easy too. So pick your favorite and start mixing!
Apple Cider Champagne Punch (via Little Leopard Book)
Delicious, Bubbly and Refreshing! I tried it with and without the maple syrup. Both ways were good, leave out the syrup if you don’t like sweet cocktails.
Pumpkin Pie Martini (via BitemeMore)
Pumpkin…Pie…Martini…Did I just die and go to Fall Heaven?!?! There are a lot of Pumpkin Pie Martini recipes out there, but I especially like this one because it calls for less heavy cream than many of the other recipes. This eliminates that full/heavy feel you often get from creamy cocktails. It also allows you to trick yourself into thinking you are drinking a “healthier” cocktail and makes you feel less guilty when you top off the martini with a hefty squirt of Reddi-Wip.
Hot Toddy (via The Blond Cook)
A cocktail that doubles as cold remedy??? Be still my heart.
Caramel Apple Sangria (via Food Family & Finds)
This is an awesome, unexpected twist on traditional sangria. Double up the recipe, throw it in a pitcher and it makes a great party cocktail.
Pumpkin Old Fashioned (via Saveur)
When I think of Bourbon, I can’t help imagining old men sitting in a dimly lit room, smoking cigars and discussing politics. This cocktail was a real surprise, way lighter and sweeter than I imagined and the flavors screamed “Fall”. Disclaimer: there were no cigars smoked or politics discussed during the tasting of this cocktail.
There you have it. Five Freakin’ Fabulous Fall cocktails guaranteed to make pumpkin carving at least 25% more bearable.
