Three years ago today at this time I was in full Bridezilla mode having a full blown tantrum in the middle of a salon because the stylist had given me a “helmet head” hair style. As I was freaking out and snapping at my bridesmaids when they attempted to convince me that my hair “didn’t look that bad” my husband was gabbing with relatives and calmly trying to find the bowtie that he misplaced. And that pretty much sums up our relationship. He’s the laid back, “in the moment” peanut butter to my anxious, high strung jelly. Somehow it just works.
Obviously, our relationship is far from perfect, we’ve had more ups and downs than an elevator. But each day we learn and grow and figure out how to piss each other off a little less. So today, I would like to take a minute to tell my husband thank you for all of the little things.
Thank you for realizing that you are a cradle robber and giving me the time I needed to get my “wild phase” out of my system.
Thank you for letting me occasionally act like a high maintenance diva.
Thank you for working your ass off so we can take our much needed vacation every summer.
Thank you for not judging me.
Thank you for letting me feel comfortable enough to be the weirdo I am.
Thank you for embracing my pickiness and learning to order my salads hold the tomatoes, no spinach/extra romaine, dressing on the side, sub tofu for chicken…
Thank you for getting me through the hardest experience of my life.
Thank you for giving me the most amazing(and adorable) family I could ever wish for.
Thank you for making me feel like this every single day.
I am married to a man that can make me pull my hair out with frustration one minute and have me laughing until I cry the next minute. A manly man who loves sports and beer, but who looks forward to our Monday night “The Bachelor/ The Bachelorette” parties just as much as I do. A man who has trouble remembering my age, but never forgets to bring me coffee in the morning and leave a bottle of water on my bedside table at night. As my husband, best friend, soul mate, co worker, punching bag and therapist, he is required to wear many hats each of which he wears oh so well. Happy Anniversary, I love you!
